Karen MacInerney

One of the joys of running the Cozy Library site is to introduce readers to new cozy writers … like Karen. I hadn’t read but a few pages of her first book, Murder on the Rocks, when I thought to myself, “this one’s a winner.” It has all the elements I like in my cozies: a feisty and slightly imperfect (as most of us are) heroine, a cozy setting and a good story. Although I’ve never been to Maine, I’ve always wanted to visit there – and think it’s a wonderful place to set a cozy mystery series. When I found out Karen lives not Down East, but in south Texas, I thought – that’s curious. Having lived in Texasmyself during one particularly “warm” summer (100+ degrees), I guess Maine looks mighty attractive. (If you’re interested in more writers with ties to or settings in Maine, check out these Cozy Library authors: Kathy Lynn EmersonKatherine Hall PageVan ReidSuzanne Strempek Shea and Lea Wait.)
