Victoria Houston
If you look on
Victoria Houston’s website, you won’t find out much about the author. There are two photos of her (one she says is out of date) but no profile. She’s either very shy or wishes to remain mysterious. But she has given some interviews that, thanks to subscription databases, are very accessible on the Internet. This is what I pieced together: Victoria was born in the North Woods of Wisconsin, left at age 18 for college, worked in the publishing industry, married, raised kids (now adult) and returned to Rhinelander WI after her father’s death. She has written five self-help books (you can find them on Amazon.com) with one more being published later this year. She tried fiction a few times, but wasn’t successful until she began writing about the people and places she knew while growing up. She grew up in a family of avid fishermen, several of them dentists, and so it’s no surprise her Loon Lake Fishing Mysteries feature as one of their main characters a retired dentist. Bookstores shelve her book in both the mystery and fishing sections … and they’re very popular. Don’t worry if you don’t know anything about fishing – you’ll learn. Some readers have been known to go out to get a fishing license after reading one of her mysteries.
