Dorothy Francis
Dorothy Francis has been a professional (and prolific) writer since the 1970s … but until recently, she was best known for her books for children and young adults, including many mysteries. The two adult mysteries she has written are both set in the Florida Keys, where Dorothy lives for part of each year. One of the best things about owning a website like the Cozy Library is being in touch with “new” writers – those I haven’t read before. Dorothy Francis is one of them I’m glad to have found. (If you're interested in learning more about Dorothy's books for young adults, visit her website.)

Author Profile
Haven’t we met before? At the University of Iowa’s Summer Writing Festival? At the University of Indiana’s Writer’s Conference. You look so familiar. Were you at my book signings in Iowa? Kansas? Key West? I’m sure we’ve met before.
After growing up in Kansas, I graduated cum laude from the University of Kansas. I played trumpet, traveling with an all-girl band before my music teaching career took me to California, Oklahoma and Iowa. In spare time I began writing books for both children and adults and teaching for The Institute for Children’s Literature. I now write in home studios in Iowa and the Florida Keys.
Memberships in Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and Short Mystery Fiction Society have added new dimensions to my writing career.
Please let me share with you my books and short stories.
